Fight Puppy Mills!

I read an interesting article on puppy mills. It talks about what puppy mills are, when they started, what problems are found in the dogs from puppy mills, and how the dogs or puppies are treated. It also talks about how you can fight these horrid puppy mills. A puppy mill is a large dog breeding operation where profit is given priority of the well-being dogs. Dogs or puppies from puppy mills are sold to pet shops usually at the age of 8 weeks old. I am not going to mention the problems that the dogs have because there are too many to list. If you want to know what they are click on the link I have posted. The dogs and puppies are treated awful at these puppy mills. They are housed in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions without any food water, toys, treats, exercise, basic grooming, socialization, or adequate veterinary care. The dogs are kept in small cages with wire flooring that injures their paws and legs to minimize cleanup. The females are bred over and over again so much that their stomachs are huge and nothing but flab. When she is no longer able to breed anymore, she is killed. Puppy mills began some time after World War II because of the widespread crop failures in the Midwest. The United States Department of Agriculture began promoting purebred puppies a fool-proof "cash" crop. You can help put a stop to this cruel system. Next time you want to adopt a puppy think about where they came from. I know it's a hard decision to make because you want to save them but at the same time, you are supporting puppy mills. If you want a puppy or dog, adopt one from your local animal shelter.

Korean Dogs

Ok, remember in my last post with the story about people killing their dogs to consume them? Well I just found a video about it showing the lives of dogs and cats in Korea. Every year, over 2 million dogs are killed for food in cruel ways. They are raised in dog farms, given food barely to survive and little room to move around. Many dogs are especially raised for food, but some are former pets sold to dog meat traders. Most of the dogs are transported to markets like Moran market near Seoul. In most cases, dogs are killed slowly and painfully-beating,burning, or hanging them to death. Some believe that if you torture a dog before you kill it, then the meat will become more tastier and tender and the consumer will become more masculine. Dog meat is sold openly. Although vendors are discouraged from selling the meat to foreigners. Over 6,000 restaurants in South Korea serve food made out of dog meat-soups, stews, and steaks. This is happening in the 21st century in a rising business and technology centre of Asia. PLEASE HELP! And show your support for stopping dog torture and the dog meat industry. Sign the petition at www.uniteddogs.com/stopkillingdogs and share this link with your friends and family. It is very sad that these dogs are adopted to to be killed and ate. Is that the life you would want to live? I sure wouldn't. This is how the dog's lives are spent.

This is a actual video of someone in Korea hanging a dog for
food. You can see the dog struggle and whine. It is so sad and I cried so hard. This has to stop!

Animal abuse stories

As my first official blog, i will be sharing a few animal abuse stories I have read in the past few years. Some of the stories might be a little disturbing, but true. And just remember, if animals could talk they'd probably be saying "why me? What did I do? What did I do to be treated this way? I thought you were my lifetime companion... Why don't you love me?" Please don't treat animals this way. In 1993, two Texas adolescents thought it would be "fun" to beat a horse to death with metal baseball bats. Use baseball bats for baseball, not beating a horse. A dog owner in New York put his Cocker Spaniel puppy in a burning gas oven because it wetted on his floor. Puppies will do that, that's why you potty train them. Don't do what he did, that's abuse! In California, a kitten is recovering after a cruel person shot it in the chest with an arrow. That's not a sport, don't use a life for a target. One of the most disturbing and saddest stories I have ever read is what they use dogs for in Korea. In Korea, there are millions of people who eat dogs, yes! They EAT dogs! What they do is they obtain a dog and keep it as a household pet for a year. Then they will tie a rope around the dog's neck and they will hang it from a tree. This hanging is in no way humane, the hanging is designed to have the dog slowly strangle to death. The reason that they hang the dog is because they believe that the dog's meat will become more "tender". After reading these I think to my self, how could some one do this? Why would some one do this? It's cruelty! Again, they are here to be man's best friend, not a toy. This goes to show you how sick minded people can be when it comes to animals. I ask you to take these sad, sad stories into your heart and think about all the animal abuse that goes on every day, week, month and year. I also ask you to please watch the video below. I will be posting more of the stories i have read in some more posts.

Introduction to animal abuse

As part of team 3, I am excited to be blogging this year on the
topic of animal abuse. I will be writing about all the animal
abuse that happens around the world. I will post abuse stories
that might be a little disturbing, but true. I think people should
know what cruel things people do to these poor innocent
animals. Also, I will be posting some videos that have to do
with animal abuse. If you are a person out there that is an
animal abuser, I hope you'll end up changing your mind after
reading my blogs. Animals are here to be man's best friend,
yet every minute there are animals being abused for no reason
at all. I really don't see how someone could live with their self
after abusing an animal and not feel guilty.
